Broadcasting Life

In the early 70s Michael joined RTE as a Continuity Announcer on radio which then led on to him being offered the position of newsreader where he read the RTE news on radio and television in both Irish and English. He subsequently received a special award from the National Association for the Deaf.

In the late 70’s he trained to be a Producer / Director and during the 80s he worked for RTE as a Senior Producer / Director in television, for which he received many awards, among them a Jacob’s Award, the Prix Jeunesse Internationale and a special UNESCO award. In 1987 he returned to the RTE Newsroom as a Newscaster where he continues to broadcast part-time.

Michael has also worked in the private sector for Carr Communications as a Senior Consultant and continues to lecture in Communications at the Bil Keating School of Television and Theatre Studies, at Milltown College in Dublin.
